HDPE pipes have excellent performance, including good flexibility, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, making them highly recommended. They are widely used in various fields such as gas transportation, water transportation, oil and gas gathering and transportation, municipal engineering water supply systems, building indoor and outdoor water supply systems, residential areas, plant buried water supply systems, old pipeline repairs, water treatment engineering pipeline systems, industrial water pipes in gardens, irrigation, and more. Therefore, hydraulic butt fusion welding machines are also widely utilized.
One important limitation of polyethylene pipes in these applications is their temperature capacity. Generally, polyethylene pipes can be safely used at temperatures up to 60 °C (140 °F). However, projects involving higher temperatures have historically required alternative materials. To address this, a bimodal high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin with a rated pressure of 82 °C (180 °F) has been developed for demanding piping applications.
It is crucial to note that hot melt connections can be dangerous. Therefore, butt welding machine suppliers need to enhance the skills and quality training of pipeline designers and constructors in using HDPE welders. This will ensure they understand the HDPE pipe welding parameters, leading to improved construction efficiency, avoidance of rework troubles, and enhanced safety during the use of hydraulic HDPE pipe welding machines.
The HDPE pipe welding temperature should not be too high or too long, and it should be controlled at 210 ±10 ºC. Otherwise, excessive melt will be extruded from the parts, resulting in a reduced inner diameter of the water. Additionally, it is recommended to provide proper shelter when working in the open air or places with direct sunlight.
